Healthy Relaxed Hair Journey #2

Hello everyone! Happy Easter or Happy Resurrection Day! I wanted to share the name of the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner my hairstylist suggested. It's OGX. I prefer the Argan Oil bottle. I have used it multiple times and my hair feels amazing. Thank you Lord!

I also use It's 10 Miracle leave-in plus Keratin in-between hair washes some of the time, so the sweat from working out doesn't dry out my hair. That was my biggest problem with relaxed hair and regular exercise sessions, my hair was drying out or felt/looked dehydrated. 

I wanted to share with other gym goers (aka baddies) because this has been an eye-opening experience for me.

Healthy Haircare for the Relaxed Hair

This post is slightly different. I want to talk about Healthy Relaxed Hair. I'm thinking to make this a series of talks (e.g. my personal journey with my hair while working out, moisturizing hair products I started using to help keep my relaxed hair hydrated, some of research I found on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and lastly my ongoing conversations with my personal hairstylist). She's the best!

I want to give a shout out to my personal hairstylist, all of the amazing people doing their thing on Social Media, and I CAN'T FORGET God (my higher being). I hope I don't offend anyone, but my faith in Jesus Christ is everything!

SCDHHS aka SC Medicaid is a Bully towards Behavioral Health Providers

Why this petition matters

SC Medicaid or SCDHHS which is South Carolina Department of Health and Human Service can audit or review medical records for SC Medicaid beneficiaries (i.e. patients) at any time. This process can be good or it can be bad. In my case, I was audited May 2018, and that is when my "nightmare" with SCDHHS began. 

Prior to this audit, I was an in-network provider for SC Medicaid for seven (7) years. I worked closely with several pediatricians, medical doctors, state agencies, and more to help provide quality and evidence-based counseling services in my local community (Beaufort, South Carolina). As of December 2020, I am no longer a Medicaid provider in my area because of SCDHHS cruelty. I got out-of-network or left the company on my own free will. I still get calls from Medicaid HMOs which are smaller and separate entities under the bigger umbrella that is SC Medicaid. These Medicaid HMOs are looking for providers to see their members because there is a "lack of providers" in the area. I currently know there is a three (3) month wait for members. This is unsatisfactory during a time of a pandemic. 

My community needs more SC Medicaid providers, but SCDHHS must treat us, the providers, with respect and dignity. I am calling for change! I am asking you to please help me bring this pressing issue to my state Senators, US Senators, state Congress, and US Congress attention that SCDHHS is abusive with their power and handling of Medicaid audits also known as Prepayment Claim Reviews. I firmly believe everyone has a boss, and I am hoping to talk to SCDHHS boss on this pressing matter. I need to do this for my community because Beaufort, South Carolina, needs more Medicaid providers. Thank you for your support! 

We're thinking of introducing a new program, and we need your thoughts!

We are thinking of launching a new program here at BAKERS Counseling Services, LLC (BCS). This program will be geared toward living a healthier, happier lifestyle. We are looking into pairing the nutritional and athletic knowledge of a certified personal trainer with the insight of a professional counselor. The idea is that we will incorporate the two in a group setting. The pilot group will be open to people of various ages, weight, level of fitness, and fitness goals. Keep in mind the fact that group counseling brings about varying ideas and perspectives. This is due to the fact that the group's members receive input, understanding, support, and encouragement from others who have similar concerns (Florida Gulf Coast University). Next, think about the cost of seeing a personal trainer as an individual; this can get costly after the first session, let alone the third or fourth sessions. Insurance may cover the cost of seeing a therapist/counselor, but not if your concern is not considered a medical necessity. Weight loss, proper diet, or fitness training are not normally considered behavioral health medical necessities. This being said, insurance will likely not cover the cost for services regarding these areas. Besides, seeing a therapist/counselor likely will not give you the health and weight management tools that you would acquire through a visit with a personal trainer. A program which incorporates both a certified trainer along with a professional counselor, in a group setting, covers both bases. And it does so at a far less cost to the individual than it would to see a professional counselor and a certified trainer separately. With these thoughts in mind, we can begin to understand that there is potential in such a program. What are your thoughts on this program idea?
